Meet the team: Charissa Newton
Away from the farm there’s a huge amount of effort going in behind the scenes keeping the good ship Topflite on course. We’re lucky to have Charissa overseeing much of this work – her positive energy and focused efficiency keeps the office humming.
Position: Office Administration and Health & Safety
How long have you worked at Topflite? 6 years
What does your daily work involve? My workload includes taking and processing orders, submissions for new products, helping maintain website products and customer log-ins and health and safety.
What’s the best part of the job? Working with a great and talented team of people who care about their jobs and each other.
What is one thing you’d like people to know about the work? That Topflite is a company that values quality, teamwork and family.
Do you have any pets? Yes, one very spoiled cat, 10 sheep and we’re thinking about getting a couple of chickens. I’m missing our beloved golden retriever, Bailey, who we lost last June after 14 ½ years.
What’s your favourite animal? Oh, that’s a hard question as I just love animals. I miss seeing squirrels from the US, as I admire their personalities, how they hop around, and how hard they work to store food for the winter. Black panthers and golden retrievers are also on my top list.
Where’s your favourite place in New Zealand? I love New Zealand, so this is another hard question for me. There still so many places I haven’t visited yet too. Close to home the Moeraki Boulders would be my favourite. Aoraki Mount Cook, which reminds me of my home in the USA, and Stephen Bay’s at the top of the South Island is a special beach for me.
Outside of work what are your interests? Renovating our home, spending time with my family, gardening, travel, bush walks, classic cars and fashion.
What else should people know about you? I’m a Yankee Kiwi, born in Colorado and have been here in New Zealand for 20 years.
