Good Egg of the Month:
Bill Bailey

Star of Black Books, Hot Fuzz and numerous hilarious British panel shows, Bill Bailey isn’t just an accomplished musician and comedic superstar. He’s also a passionate bird watcher, nature advocate, host to TV show ‘Bill Bailey’s Birdwatching Bonanza’ and author of ‘Bill Bailey’s Remarkable Guide to British Birds’. Now, he’s our Good Egg too…

Yes, the beautiful Bill Bailey British bird book (try saying that three times quickly) contains all kinds of interesting, vital information – such as, ‘When herons are spooked they have a habit of vomiting as a defence. Half-digested pieces of eel and water vole skull on your head is not a good look. Just so you know.’

Bill also has a home zoo. While he started it with a couple of rescue animals it’s now home to a variety of birds, monkeys, chameleons, snakes, dingoes and more.

Asked what he thinks of New Zealand’s birds and he says, “I’ve seen kiwi, wonderful birds, I love keas – they’re probably my favourite bird in the whole word, so gorgeous and cheeky.”

Pictured here with another great book and a good mate, Bill is our inaugural Good Egg of the Month – a semi-regular feature we’re starting to shine a spotlight on bird lovers both local and international.

Feel free to nominate someone you know who loves birds and other animals as much as our mate Bill!
