Prime selections from A La Carte

Choosing the right dog food is a major decision, particularly if your pooch has weight or skin issues. Every vet, breeder, friend and guy-from-the-dog-park has an opinion or recommendation and is dying to share it. Our opinion: start by comparing ingredients lists.

If the first item on the list is a cereal or some other filler, move on. Is the source of the ingredient unclear? Move on again.

A La Carte ingredients list starts with either lamb, chicken or salmon. Why? Because it’s the main ingredient. Next comes either rice or potato and a small amount of fibre like barley or flaxseed. The rest of the list reads more like a healthy school lunch: carrot, beet pulp, oat bran, sunflower oil and so on.

The Australian-made A La Carte is a premium blend formulated by pet nutritionists, veterinarians and breeders. Recipes are hypoallergenic and packed with antioxidants and probiotic cultures, meaning that a switch to A La Carte may help those dogs with weight maintenance issues or skin irritations.

The Salmon & Potato formula in particular is proving to be a real crowd-pleaser here in New Zealand. As distributors we’re lucky enough to hear the success stories from owners who have trialled this super premium blend. It’s a low grain recipe specifically formulated for fussy eaters or active dogs with sensitive skin.
